Frequently Asked Questions

Need a quick fix? Here are some common questions we get that can help you troubleshoot your own system. Need a closer look? Fill out the form above and we’ll be in touch ASAP.

Why is my solar production lower than usual?

Seasonal changes, weather (clouds, snow), shorter daylight hours, or temporary shading can reduce production. This is normal and expected—your system is designed to balance production over the entire year, not day-to-day.

What should I do if my system shows “offline”?

First, check your internet connection—most monitoring issues are Wi-Fi related. If your internet is working and the system is still offline, contact our service team so we can check the inverter connection.

Is it normal for my electric bill to change month to month?

Yes. Utility rates, weather, usage habits, and net metering credits all affect your bill. Solar reduces what you buy from the utility, but it doesn’t eliminate seasonal fluctuations.

Do solar panels still work on cloudy days?

Yes. Panels produce power whenever there is daylight. Output is lower on cloudy days, but your system is still generating electricity.

What happens if the power goes out?

If you do not have a battery backup, your system will shut off during an outage for safety. If you do have a battery, your essential circuits will continue running automatically.

How do I know if my system is working properly?

Your monitoring app is the best indicator. If production suddenly drops to zero or alerts appear, reach out to us and we’ll investigate.

Should I clean my solar panels?

In most cases, rain does the job. We do not recommend homeowners clean panels themselves due to fall risk. If heavy dirt or debris builds up, contact us for guidance.

What if I get a roof leak after installation?

This is rare, but if it happens, contact us immediately. Our installs are flashed and sealed properly, and we’ll inspect the issue to determine the cause.

My inverter lights look different—what does that mean?

Inverter lights indicate system status. A green light usually means normal operation. Red or flashing lights may indicate a communication or grid issue—contact us if you’re unsure.

Do I need to reset my system?

Most systems do not require regular resets. If you’re experiencing issues, contact our service team before attempting a reset.

Why does my monitoring app show usage even when I’m producing solar?

Your home always uses power. Solar offsets that usage first, and any excess is sent to the grid or stored in your battery.

What happens if I change my internet provider?

Your monitoring system will need to be reconnected to the new Wi-Fi network. Contact us and we’ll walk you through the process.

Can I add more panels or a battery later?

Yes, in many cases. System expansion depends on roof space, electrical capacity, and utility rules. We can evaluate your setup and provide options.

How long does solar equipment last?

Solar panels typically last 25–30 years. Inverters and batteries have shorter lifespans, but are covered by manufacturer warranties.

Who do I contact if I have a service issue?
